Support

Common questions, answered.

Write to support@trysimplypdf.com. Tell us what happened and which iPhone or iPad you were using. Please do not send the document itself: we would rather not have it, and the answer almost never needs it.

Common questions

Where are my documents stored?

On your device, in the Files app under Simply PDF. Nothing is uploaded. You can open that folder in Files and copy documents out at any time.

Before you delete the app

Deleting Simply PDF deletes its folder in Files and every document in it, because that folder belongs to the app. Copy your documents out first, or use Settings › General › iPhone Storage (iPad Storage on iPad) › Simply PDF › Offload App, which removes the app and keeps its documents for when you reinstall it.

How do I cancel Pro?

Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription, which opens Apple's own subscription screen. Cancelling takes the same few taps as subscribing. That is one of our written promises.

I redacted something. Is it really gone?

Yes. Redaction destroys the marked areas rather than covering them, and it writes a new document to do it. The pages you marked become pictures, so their text cannot be selected, searched or read aloud any more. What it cannot reach are copies you already shared, printed, or that are in a backup. The app says so before you commit.

Restoring a purchase

Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases. Your purchase lives in your App Store account, so it comes back on a new device without an account of ours.

Refunds

Apple handles every payment, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We never see your payment details and cannot issue a refund ourselves.

Family Sharing

Pro and Lifetime belong to the Apple Account that bought them and are not shared through Family Sharing. Everything free in Simply PDF is free for everyone in the family.

What it runs on

iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later.

A form will not fill

Some government and insurance forms are built as dynamic XFA forms, which most PDF apps, Apple's included, cannot display. Simply PDF says so when you open one instead of letting you fill its placeholder page. Ask the sender for a standard PDF, or open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader on a Mac or PC.

A PDF whose owner has locked it against changes cannot be filled in place either. Simply PDF offers a copy you can fill and sign instead.
